CONTEMPORARY REALISM

I am a contemporary artist creating large-scale and intimate paintings inspired by landscape, movement, and human connection. My work explores the emotional relationship between place and belonging, drawing from coastal environments, marshlands, open roads, working boats, and figurative scenes rooted in social justice and collective presence.

Much of my landscape work is inspired by coastal life — including ocean waves, salt marshes, wetlands, and expansive horizon lines — places where land, water, and sky meet. These paintings focus less on literal representation and more on atmosphere, light, and feeling. Boats and open roads appear as recurring motifs, symbolizing transition, resilience, and the experience of movement and return.

Alongside landscape, my figurative work addresses themes of human rights and social justice, capturing marches, gatherings, and portraits that reflect collective strength and shared voice. Through expressive gesture and layered composition, figures become both personal and universal, emphasizing presence over individual identity.

I work primarily with water-based oils on canvas and wood, creating textured, luminous surfaces through intuitive layering and bold, contemporary color. My process allows movement, light, and energy to remain visible within each painting.

Across all series, my work invites reflection and connection — whether through the power of the ocean, the quiet rhythm of wetlands, the openness of the road, or the presence of people standing together. Each piece offers a sense of place that feels expansive, grounding, and deeply human.
